Drop it in. It just opens.

Anvil watches your project folder and converts the files your editing tools refuse — AVIF, WebP, SVG — into ones they will open. It lives in the menu bar and you will forget it is running.

Quick tour

Step 1 — Point it at a folder
Step 1 — Point it at a folder

1. Point it at a folder

Pick the folder you drag things into — this episode, this project. Anvil watches only that.

Step 2 — Drag from the browser

2. Drag from the browser

Pull an image straight out of Brave or Chrome like you already do. Nothing changes about your habit.

Anvil converts it and writes the result alongside the original. The original stays exactly where it was.

The web has moved to formats Premiere will not import. Anvil converts them the moment they land.

No window. No dock icon.

No window. No dock icon.

Anvil is a menu-bar app on purpose. Nothing to arrange, nothing competing with your timeline for screen space.

It never touches your original
It never touches your original

It never touches your original

Anvil only writes new files next to the source, and never overwrites an existing name.

One job. Done properly.

Watches one folder

Or switch it whenever you move to a new project. Takes a second.

Your own rules

Decide what converts to what. Add a format the day you hit it.

No dependencies

Nothing to install alongside it. Uses only what ships with macOS.

Fully offline

Conversion happens on your Mac. Nothing is uploaded anywhere.

Instant

Files are usually converted before you have switched back to Premiere.

Waits for the file

Large downloads are left alone until they have finished writing.

Questions.

Will it change files I already have?

No. Anvil only acts on files that appear after it starts watching, and it never modifies an original.

What if a converted file already exists?

It leaves it alone. Anvil will not overwrite an existing filename.

Can I add a format it does not handle?

Yes — placeholder. Point at your own rules documentation here.

Does it need Homebrew or anything else?

No. Everything it uses ships with macOS.

Is there a subscription?

No. $2.99 once.
